UMCOR Disaster Academy Registration Deadline 3/15

Featuring UMCOR’s Connecting Neighbors curriculum  – learn to mobilize your congregation’s unique ministry  setting to respond to disasters in your community and partner with organizations like FEMA and VOAD in disaster relief.

This is an opportunity for volunteers and leaders from congregations throughout the Western Jurisdiction to connect with each other through fellowship and learning.  This will be a time of sharing best practices, learning new and refreshing skills, building and strengthening partnerships, and developing new relationships. Opportunities include:

Pre seminar ERT certification course, 200 level ERT recertification classes good for three years, urban wildfire response classes, self care for responders, and hands on skills seminars.

Hand on skill development and refreshment includes: hanging and removing dry wall, basic electrical wiring, handling solar panels and tarping.

ERT trip leader training and site assessment.

This Training is provided by leaders from UMCOR (The United Methodist Committee on Relief) and the Western Jurisdiction Conference Disaster Response Coordinators in collaboration with the Desert Southwest Conference Disaster Response Committee.
