February Worship Services

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4 COMMUNION

Jesus’ ministry begins in earnest with demonstrations of divine power and healings galore. The text for today is Mark 1:29-39; the homily will be called “Holy Healing Hands”, and the Lord’s Supper will also be served today.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 11 TRANSFIGURATION SUNDAY

Mark 9:2-9 takes us up the mountaintop with the inner core of disciples to witness the fullness of Jesus’ divine nature. For reasons that I hope will be obvious, the sermon will be called “Getting Past the Awkward Moments”.

(ECUMENICAL LENTEN SERIES at FAITH LUTHERAN)

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 18 FIRST SUNDAY OF LENT

The liturgical season of Lent begins today, as we slowly wend our way to Calvary and beyond…a season of introspection and as much somberness as we can manage. Mark 1:9-15 sets the tone; “Baptized and Beloved; Tested and Timely” will be the message.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25 SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

Romans 4:13-25 reminds us of Paul’s call to walk in faith upon the path of Christ Jesus and trust that God will provide in ways we cannot yet perceive. The sermon is entitled “Mobius Strip”.
