SUMMER SERMON SERIES: “Vices and Virtues – Seven Sure Strategies to Sabotage or Sanctification”
This summer we get seven Sundays to explore, and I was moved to delve into the Seven Deadly Sins and their corresponding Seven Heavenly Virtues. I am very much looking forward to this time of growth and sharing with you! – Pastor Dave
SUNDAY, AUGUST 5
On this Communion Sunday, we explore the variety of Christian attitudes towards the deadly sin of ENVY and the heavenly virtue of GRATITUDE. The yoked scriptures today are Proverbs 14:30 and Colossians 3:15-16, and our morning message is “Rotten Bones or Grateful Hearts?”
SUNDAY, AUGUST 12
In this fifth sermon of our 7-part series, we will talk about deadly sin of GLUTTONY and its heavenly counterpart, MODERATION. The scriptures today are Proverbs 23. 1-3 and Galatians 5:22-23, and the message will be called “Full of More Than the Spirit”.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 19
Today’s deadly sin is the slow, lurking sin of SLOTH, and its corresponding heavenly virtue is DILIGENCE. Today’s scriptures will be Proverbs 26:13-15 and 2 Thessalonians 3.6, and the sermon will be called “You Were Raised Better than That!”
SUNDAY, AUGUST 26
Finally, after seven long weeks, we come to the deadly sin with which our world is most acquainted: LUST, and its heavenly counterpoint, CHASTITY. Our final two scriptures will be 1 John 2. 16-17 and Psalm 119: 9-10, and the final message will becalled “This Too Shall Pass”.

Our Purpose is to ENGAGE people in joyful relationships with God and with each other, so we will GROW in Christ-like compassion, and SHARE the blessings of the Holy Spirit.
