June Worship Services

June Worship Services

Sunday, June 3rd

“Plucky Christians” is the title of the message today, based on Mark 2:23-3:6, the passage where we
are eternally reminded that God ordains rituals and rules to enhance human life, not diminish it. We will receive
Holy Communion today, in our ‘summer-style’.

Sunday, June 10th

Today we investigate a complicated passage, Mark 3:20-35, and ponder some of Jesus’ more vexing
sayings. The sermon will be called “Building an Undivided House”. Additionally, the Choir finishes its season
today, so expect more loveliness than usual! And further, we expect to receive new members today, too!

Sunday, June 17th FATHER’S DAY WEEKEND

Mark 4:26-34 leads us into images of sowing and harvest, the full cycle of life under God’s fatherly
care. The sermon today will be called “A Mustard-y Mystery”.

Sunday, June 24th CONFERENCE SUNDAY

Fresh back from Annual Conference, we will report briefly on the goings on there and then tackle
Mark 4:35-41, the great gospel story where Jesus calms the storm. The message will be called “Storm Abatement”.
It is not clear as of this writing how Conference reporting and calming the storm fit together, but I
expect they will have some things in common…
Ed note: Methodists practice an open communion. Anyone may participate. Trinity offers communion service the first Sunday of each month at all services.
