Women’s Group
Trinity UMC has a very active women’s group whose mission is “to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Christ; develop a creative, supportive fellowship and expand concepts of mission in the ministries of the church.”
Popularly known as UMW(United Methodist Women), the General Board officially changed its name in 2022 to United Women in Worship so hereafter we shall refer to it as UMW.
As a group, it holds two fundraisers: a spring Rummage Sale and a winter Bazaar, proceeds almost entirely donated toward support of nine local charities*, a pledge to the church and to emergency needs as the opportunity presents.
In the past clothing, books, and money were sent to a mission in Mindanao, P.I. and reported a fishing boat and motor scooters purchased for use by needy persons to improve their economic lives.
The Rummage sale allows the community to buy donated white elephants at very reasonable prices and the Bazaar new items including handcrafted items, baked goods, jams and jellies and a hearty lunch.
Monthly meetings at 10 a.m. on the third Wednesday allow fellowship among attendees and opportunity to learn from speakers from groups that are supported with our donations such as Passages, the Wildcat Food Pantry and Meals on Wheel.
All women are invited to attend meetings and participate in UWF activities.
*Charities supported: Boys and Girls Club; Catalyst; Esplanade House; Catholic Ladies Food Locker; Jesus Center; Meals on Wheels; Passages; Torres Shelter; Panther Food Pantry.
