After their summer hiatus, the UMF will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 20th, at 10:00 to fellowship and discuss agenda items, especially their annual fundraiser  Bazaar that will be held on Dec. 1st-2nd. Some projects such as embroidering tea towels have been in the works since early spring, with Carol Riley assisted by Mary Coulter and their group of preppers who’ve washed and ironed the cloths for the embroiderers.

When embroideries were finished, they were again washed, ironed and folded by others and ready for display and sale.

Other chairpersons will organize their groups for the country store, cookies, candy, crafts and white elephant booths. Lunch will again be served as well as ala carte pieces of pies and cinnamon buns as part of the luncheon.

Jody promises pomegranate juice for the popular Bazaar jelly, and a “jellying party” will likely be announced for November. Donations of standard half pint jars and rings are welcome, as are pectin, sugar and new jar lids.

On the last weekend of August, Suellen Rowlinson and Lily Loughlin participated in Mission U held at Centennial UMC in Sacramento. The theme was “Living the Kin-Dom and Exploring the Lord’s Prayer”.

In mid-August, UWF mourned the passing of Joe Ann Haynes who succumbed after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Joe Ann was an active member of UMW for many years and especially remembered for her inspirational anecdotes and prayers that began meetings and her enthusiastic chairing of the Agape Book Circle till felled by illness. She is greatly missed.

While not a UWF project, Coleen Schloman and Carol Riley co-chaired the annual church Labor Day weekend Rummage Sale with participation of members who also are part of the church.

President Neva is calling Sewing Group members to meet on the 4th Thursday, Sept. 28th, at 10:00 to share their projects or to discuss ideas. Time TBA.
