Message from CHAT president Leslie Johnson
Editor’s note: CHAT is a charitable organization that provides aid and resources to the unhoused. Trinity UMC Chico is proud to support CHAT. Now, on to the message.
Hi, I’m Leslie Johnson, board president of CHAT. I am reaching out today to wish you a Happy New Year, and to ask you to consider making a special donation to CHAT. Our end-of-year appeal is our most important appeal of the year, because it helps CHAT budget and plan what we will be able to do in the coming year.
CHAT is presently housing over 180 people who were formerly homeless, and it goes without saying that we are eager to continue helping many more people move from homelessness to housing in 2024.
In addition to CHAT’s amazing housing program, you probably are aware that CHAT is about to open Everhart Village, a new, round-the-clock shelter for people suffering with both mental illness and homelessness, to provide them the services and treatment they need to get stabilized and transition into secure and appropriate long term housing. These programs cost money, but are incredibly necessary to make our town a better place for everybody.
We are extremely grateful for your support of CHAT in the past, and I want to invite you to continue supporting CHAT’s work with an end of year (or a new year’s) donation. The support of our community is what makes CHAT able to do what we do, so as always, we are counting on you!
You can donate on our website, or by check. CHAT’s mailing address is:

Thank you so much, and we wish you all the best in the coming year.
